Meeting with Teenage Cancer Trust
It was good to have the opportunity to discuss the challenges facing young people with cancer, the importance of access to specialist care and support, and how we can work together to improve experiences and outcomes for young people diagnosed with cancer.
Meeting with Animal Free Research UK
Good to meet with Animal Free Research UK to discuss the latest developments in the campaign for Herbie’s Law. Herbie’s Law sets a goal of minimising animal experiments in medical research over the next decade, supporting the scientific community with the transition to more modern and human-specific techniques.
Bridging the UK’s AI Skill Gap Speakers Panel
Given the growth of AI in modern society, I was interested to speak on a panel with representatives from Google and other industry experts on how we can widen access to AI skills training and workplace progression in a safe and controlled manner.
Meeting with National AIDS Trust
It was a pleasure to meet with James Cole from the National AIDS Trust to discuss actions needed in Scotland to help drive progress towards ending HIV transmission by 2030; amendments needed to the Government’s Health and Immigration bills to tackle health inequalities; and how we can work together on shared areas of priority.

Turnbull High School UNCRC ‘Right to Work’ Campaign
Amazing to visit Turnbull High School and to hear of the work the S2 pupils are taking part in with the UNCRC ‘right to work’ campaign. The pupils originally wanted to write letters to welcome the refugees; however, this turned into a bigger movement, with them raising funds and donations in addition to the letters. The letters and donations will form a welcome package for refugees. Pupils donated books, toiletries, warm clothing and something Scottish. The amount of donations they have received was incredible and they have raised £500.
Scottish Gas Warm Home Discount is Open
I would like to make constituents aware that the Warm Home Discount has opened for applications from Scottish Gas customers. The Warm Home Discount is a one-off £150 payment towards electricity bills, paid directly by energy suppliers to customers. You can check if you are eligible and apply for the payment here, or alternatively call 0330 808 3880.
