A by-election for a new local councillor in Bearsden South will take place on Thursday 29th January 2026 due to a vacancy created by an independent councillor. Residents have consistently asked for practical representation, support for local services and someone who listens. They have also asked for a councillor who lives here and understands the concerns of our community.

Cllr Vaughan Moody is endorsing Bearsden resident Ben Langmead to be our new councillor.

Vaughan said: “Ben has shown time and again that he cares deeply about Bearsden. He rolls up his sleaves, gets things done, and speaks up for local people. Ben lives here, understands the issues, and will be a strong voice for all of us on the council.”

Ben has worked alongside residents on issues affecting Bearsden South including safer streets,, sensible parking, maintenance of community facilities and protecting local services. Residents who know him know that he listens and focuses on results rather than headlines.

Scottish Parliament Candidate for Strathkelvin and Bearsden, Adam Harley said: “Ben is exactly the kind of councillor Bearsden needs - active, approachable and focused on families. He understands the challenges ordinary residents face and has the energy to deliver real results.”

On 29th January we have the opportunity to elect a councillor rooted in Bearsden, committed to our neighbourhoods, and ready to work from day one.

Vote for local champion Ben Langmead.
